BIO

Shireen Amini is a musician, community facilitator, and healing artist based in Bend, Oregon. She carries with her a Bachelor’s degree in Ethnomusicology from UCLA and a Certificate in Sound, Voice and Music Healing from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. The eight years Shireen spent serving the Central Oregon community as a performer and music teacher were a transformative time. She began her personal healing journey, which lead her to training in compassionate communication, energy healing, ritual and grief work. She developed two successful youth music programs based on principles of empowerment, a choir called the Peace Chords and a drumming program called Roots Rhythm. Here, she also tapped into a rich musical community from which she learned much more about the craft of songwriting.

Shireen was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico to a Puerto Rican mother and Iranian father. Her parents met in Los Angeles, California before moving to the island so her mother could attend medical school. At age 3, her family moved back to California, the San Francisco Bay Area, where she was raised with a mix of cultural influences from her own heritage and surroundings. Shireen began training on piano at age 6, taught herself guitar and began singing and producing her own recordings in high school. In college, she specialized in Afro-Latin percussion, particularly the Afro-Peruvian cajon. She learned to use music as a deeply therapeutic means of self-expression and always had a gift for writing songs and facilitating bonding experiences with her family, sports teams, and later on her students and larger community. In 2007, she released her first EP entitled Turnaround, a mix of original soul, funk, Latin and pop songs, referencing the "bouncing back" from a challenging emotional period in her life. Shireen has performed her own original music as a solo act and with the Shireen Amini Band and also has performed with various Central Oregon acts as a backup singer and percussionist.

Currently, Shireen is the lead singer and guitarist for the successful Bend-based Latin band, ¡Chiringa!, which she formed in 2013. She also is reviving her versatile and dynamic solo act, Shireen Amini Music, using a looping pedal and percussion to perform unique arrangements of original music and uplifting covers.

After completing her certificate in Sound, Voice, and Music Healing in 2015, Shireen found her belief in the healing power of music re-energized and a world of possibilities opened up for combining her previous experience and current passions. She is now creating innovative music and sound healing offerings for Central Oregon and beyond, which feels like a coming of age into her purpose and calling. She is deeply honored to serve you on this path.
